A note from the teacher...
Welcome to 3rd grade! This will be a remarkable year in your childs education. I propose to give each student many meaningful experiences that will contribute to their becoming a productive citizen. My role as a teacher is to facilitate their learning. I will help them think, question and have an opinion about the world around them.
My name is Tiffany Gordon and I LOVE teaching! Children have always been a highlight in my life. Growing up, I was the neighborhood babysitter, which grew to volunteering at an elementary school which lead to my unquestionable desire to become a teacher! I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. In 2008, I completed a Master’s degree of Education, with an ESL endorsement (English Second Language). My career as an educator began in 2005, teaching Kindergarten at both Foothills and Riverton Elementary schools. The following year I took a second grade position at Foothills where I stayed for two years. To be closer to home, I switched districts and taught third grade at Taylorsville Elementary and taught there for three years. I’m extremely excited to start my third year at Elk Run Elementary! In my spare time I enjoy going camping, water skiing with my family, hiking, sporting events, reading, writing, painting, piano lessons, running 5k and 10k races, and traveling the world.
Third grade is a big jump from second grade. There’s a lot to learn like reading strategies, the writing process, cursive, multiplication and division, geometry, graphing, time, money, the solar system, gravity, and the list goes on. I hope to share my excitement in teaching these subjects with your children so they will find enjoyment in coming to school each day.
As a class we will respect one another and work together in the learning process. We will discuss the school-wide rules and procedures and why these rules are important to help us learn.
